This memo is to verify that Ms. BJ Wilson has held a meeting with Security Officer regarding his/her expectations while in Training. A copy of their expectations will be placed in their file for reference.

  1. Always be professional at work or off-duty, respectful to your fellow Officers and courteous. You will not gossip or discredit any of your co-workers in any way.
  2. Be on time each day. Tardiness will not be tolerated. If you are late or foresee you are going to be late, you must call BJ Wilson (310) 503-5767, Shawn Ellis (510) 962-1607, Deputy Cedric Johnson (678) 860-5967, or Detention Officer Laconya Stephens.
  3. Officers will obey all federal, state and local statutes and ordinances.
  4. Officers who are arrested (including traffic offenses) in any jurisdiction will immediately notify OPS and the training Officer.
  5. Officers will not work part-time jobs while they are in training and only after they have been approved to work.
  6. Officers will promptly obey all lawful orders of higher-ranking Officers.
  7. Officers will not refer to any person in a derogatory manner because of their race, gender, color, religion, sexual identity, or any other reason.
  8. Officers will always remain awake and alert.
  9. Officers will not consume any intoxicants while on-duty or consume intoxicants 8 hours prior to reporting for training.
  10. Smoking and the use of any tobacco products are not allowed outside of designated areas.
  11. Cell phones are NOT authorized in the classroom.
  12. Officers will check their email at least once a day during training.
  13. Officers will wear an issued blue Polo style shirt/t-shirt, black pants and black Agency approved boots and shoes. Your uniform must always be neat and clean. Your boots must be polished. A black sweatshirt is allowed during cold weather.
  14. Officers will NOT wear facial jewelry, nose piercing(s), or tongue rings.
  15. Officers will not leave any of their equipment in their vehicle/truck.
  16. Officers must call the coordinator when taking off work at least 8 Hours prior to taking off.
  17. Officers are expected to pass all Training classes.
  18. Officers are prohibited from leaving the site for lunch or any activity. If it is an emergency, please consult with a Training Staff member; if you cannot contact the staff, contact the Training Coordinator.

New members must disclose in writing the existence of any visible tattoo(s), body arts/brandings and must complete removal of inappropriate tattoo(s), body arts/brandings prior to being employed with the Agency. Members failing to remove or alter unauthorized tattoo(s), body arts/brandings in a timely manner (not to exceed ninety (90) days) may affect his/her standing, with disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Applicants for sworn and civilian positions will be considered for employment if they have visible tattoo(s) or brands that can be completely covered by the uniform even if it requires the wearing of the long sleeve shirt year-round. This consideration will be done on a case-by-case basis based on whether the tattoos, body arts/brandings are not obscene and do not advocate sexual, racial, ethnic, or religious discrimination, or distract from the appropriate conservative, professional image of the Agency. The Officer or designee will make the final determination if any applicant with exposed tattoo(s), body arts/brandings that cannot be covered is considered for employment.

Visible tattoos, body arts/brandings and piercings are prohibited and will not be exposed or visible while on-duty and assigned to uniform and plainclothes assignments. Tattoos, body arts/brandings and piercings will not be placed in a visible location such as the head, neck, face, hands or forearms of employees. If an employee has existing tattoos, body arts/brandings and piercings, he or she is prohibited from obtaining any additional tattoos, body arts/brandings and piercings that are visible.

No type of dental ornamentation is allowed, which includes, but is not limited to the use of gold, platinum, silver, or other veneer or caps that exhibit designs, jewels, initials, or any other self-induced pattern. This does not include caps, fillings, or braces required for medical or dental purposes.

Note: Any employee who obtains any type of body art, tattoo(s), intentional scarring, mutilation, or dental ornamentation after the effective date of this general order will be in violation of a written directive and be subject to disciplinary action.
